Actors want to know what you think

Launch Pad Casting Workshop unites directors and professionals responsible for casting with actors determined to develop their careers.

There are an abundance of training programs and classes designed to help actors become better performers. There are few opportunities, though, for them to find out what you, the person who makes casting decisions, actually thinks.

Launch Pad Casting Workshop is where actors come to get an honest opinion of their work, and where you have the ability to give it.

How is this feedback given?

Each actor will give a performance, and you are invited to give your opinion about their work.

We will help you develop a template for giving praise and criticism during Launch Pad. This template is a short list of essential abilities or qualities in an actor. Every actor should receive feedback on each one of these qualities.

The template exists so you won't have to reinvent the wheel for each actor during a Launch Pad Casting Workshop.

We have devised some sample templates for you to modify if you see fit. The template should center on the actual criteria you look for when conducting an audition.

The Moderator will distribute these criteria you've selected to the actors beforehand, and will also debrief the actors using this list after Launch Pad has concluded.

What do the actors perform?

The actors will perform whatever you'd like to see. We have a selection of scenes for you to choose from, or you're free to choose your own.

If you'd like to select your own material, you are free to use texts from an upcoming project. The workshop is an excellent opportunity to test ideas about casting, or hear multiple actors' takes on a piece.

So that actors have a chance to act and react, partner scenes usually work best. Launch Pad is typically conducted as a cold reading. This offers a level playing field, and approximates a callback.

To end on a high note, we'd like you to share three brief bits of casting wisdom or maxims from your own experience. We'd like you to share these with everyone at the conclusion of the Launch Pad Casting Workshop.
